The Best November Activities

November brings on the rainy season in Washington state. I always say that if you can continue exploring the outdoors despite the weather you’ll have a much better winter. Letting the rain and gloom keep you inside won’t help! These are three of my favorite activities to do during November in Washington. Let me know how your trips go!

The Washington Weather Corner

Washington Weather in November

In Washington State, September marks the transition from summer to fall, bringing cooler temperatures and increasing rainfall. Western cities like Seattle and Olympia see daytime highs of 65–75°F (18–24°C) and lows around 50–55°F (10–13°C), while eastern areas like Spokane and the Tri-Cities stay warmer, with highs of 75–85°F (24–29°C) and cooler nights in the 40s and 50s (4–13°C).

Rainfall remains light, with Seattle averaging 1.5 inches (38 mm) and Spokane around 0.8 inches (20 mm). While early September often stays dry, rain becomes more frequent later in the month.

Air quality can be a concern due to lingering wildfire smoke, varying by year. Some seasons bring clear skies, while others, like 2020, saw hazardous air from wildfires in Washington, Oregon, and California. Climate change continues to impact wildfire frequency and air quality during late summer and early fall.

As the city’s iconic market transforms with holiday lights and cheer, you can shop for unique gifts, fresh produce, and specialty holiday treats. The best part? You can enjoy local performances and festive foods, while soaking in the festive atmosphere in this historic Seattle landmark. For the best experience, visit early in the month before the holiday crowds pick up, and take time to explore the charming shops and eateries.

Hops on the Rock brings craft beer lovers to Orcas Island for an annual beer festival in the heart of Eastsound. Market Street shuts down to traffic, making room for over 30 local brewers, live music, and a vibrant festival atmosphere. While the main event is a one-day affair, many local restaurants extend the celebration with beer-related events throughout the weekend.
