Whether you’re a local looking to switch up your routine or a visitor seeking a fun outing with your furry friend, Seattle’s dog parks are sure to give you what you’re looking for. I moved to Seattle a few years ago with a two year old English Setter named Rio. He is a very hyper dog and needs a lot of space to run around. Because of his needs, we spent the first year living in Seattle exploring the various dog parks. In this blog post I will be providing a brief overview of a few of the off leash dog parks in Seattle.
1. Magnuson Park Off-Leash Dog Park
Magnuson off-leash dog park is my favorite dog park in Seattle! Located in north east Seattle, Magnuson Park Off-Leash Area is a sprawling paradise for dogs. Covering a whopping nine acres, this off-leash area provides ample space for dogs to romp and roam freely. With separate sections for small and large dogs, every pup can play safely. The park features water access, perfect for pups who love to take a dip on hot days. Plus, its fully fenced perimeter offers peace of mind for pet parents. Just a short drive from downtown, Magnuson Park Off-Leash Area is a must-visit for pups who crave space to run and explore.

2. Westcrest Park Off-Leash Dog Park
Nestled in West Seattle, Westcrest Park Off-Leash Area offers views of the city skyline and the Cascade Mountains. This off-leash area is over four acres, providing plenty of room for dogs to stretch their legs. While there isn’t direct water access, the park features water stations to keep pups hydrated during playtime.
This off-leash area is fully fenced in allowing your dog to run freely while you are here. There is plenty of space for fetch or just exploring. My dog Rio loves to run around and look for birds and squirrels, and this park offers the perfect environment for this activity!
Westcrest off leash dog park is only a 20-30 minute drive from downtown Seattle. It’s well worth the drive to find a park this expansive and well maintained. There is parking available and it feels like a fairly safe area when you are there.
3. Genesee Park Off-Leash Dog Park
Located in the Beacon Hill neighborhood of Seattle, Genesee Park Off-Leash Area offers an escape from city life. With over three acres for your dog to explore, this off-leash area in Seattle is the perfect place for your dog to run around while you go for a small walk. Dog parks that second as a walking area for dog owners is something that I value, and this park offers that.
While there isn’t direct water access, the park features water fountains to keep dogs hydrated. With its fully fenced perimeter, pet parents can relax and enjoy the beautiful surroundings while their furry companions explore to their heart’s content. Just a short distance from downtown, Genesee Park Off-Leash Area is a hidden gem waiting to be discovered.
4. Blue Dog Pond Off-Leash Dog Park
Located in the heart of Seattle’s bustling Capitol Hill neighborhood, Blue Dog Pond Off-Leash Area offers a convenient escape for urban dwellers and their canine companions. Spanning over half an acre, this intimate off-leash area provides a safe and secure space for dogs to socialize and play. While there isn’t direct water access, the park features water bowls to keep pups hydrated. With its fully fenced enclosure, pet parents can relax and enjoy the company of fellow dog lovers while their furry friends romp and play. Just a stone’s throw from downtown, Blue Dog Pond Off-Leash Area is a neighborhood favorite for pups and their humans.
5. Woodland Park Off-Leash Dog Park
Situated adjacent to the sprawling Woodland Park Zoo, Woodland Park Off-Leash Area offers a picturesque setting for off-leash fun. This park is commonly known as Greenlake Dog Park as well. This is one of the smaller dog parks in Seattle, with only one acre for your dog to explore. There are lots of trees in the park that offer shade or coverage from the rain when you are there with your dog. The trees do have a downside as well. They split up the area and make it tough for dogs to run free. There are only two small areas that work for fetch and if someone else snags those spots you’re out of luck until they leave.
Greenlake dog park doesn’t have direct water access for your dog to play in but the park does have a water station to keep dogs hydrated. This is a fully fenced in area so you do not have to worry about your dog escaping. One notable feature of the Greenlake dog park is the small and shy dog area. There is a separate fenced off area for small and shy dogs to play where they don’t have to worry about being bothered by a large dog. If you are planning on staying in this small dog area be sure to bring your own water bowl because there is not a faucet in this area. Woodland/ Greenlake dog park is only 20-30 minutes from downtown Seattle making it an accessibly located dog park.

6. Golden Gardens Off-Leash Dog Park
Nestled within the scenic Golden Gardens Park in the Ballard neighborhood, Golden Gardens Off-Leash Area offers a stunning coastal setting for off-leash adventures. While the off-leash area itself is relatively small, spanning about half an acre, it provides a sandy beach where dogs can frolic and splash in the waves. Though not fully fenced, the off-leash area is situated away from the main park, providing a safe space for dogs to play under supervision. With breathtaking views of the Puget Sound and Olympic Mountains, Golden Gardens Off-Leash Area is a favorite spot for dogs and their humans to enjoy the beauty of Seattle’s coastline. Just a short drive from downtown, this coastal gem offers a refreshing escape for both locals and visitors alike.

7. Kinnear Park Off-Leash Dog Park
Located in the Queen Anne neighborhood, Kinnear Park Off-Leash Area offers a charming urban oasis for dogs and their owners. Spanning over half an acre, this off-leash area features gravel terrain and plenty of space for dogs to play and explore. While there isn’t direct water access, the park provides water stations for thirsty pups. With its partially fenced enclosure, pet parents can enjoy the scenic views of Elliott Bay and the Space Needle while their furry friends socialize and burn off energy. Just a short distance from downtown, Kinnear Park Off-Leash Area is a convenient spot for city dwellers to enjoy some outdoor fun with their four-legged companions.
8. Magnolia Manor Off-Leash Dog Park
Tucked away in the Magnolia neighborhood, Magnolia Manor Off-Leash Area offers a peaceful retreat for dogs and their owners. Spanning approximately one acre, this off-leash area features grassy fields and shaded areas, providing a tranquil environment for play and relaxation. While there isn’t direct water access, the park offers water bowls for thirsty pups. With its fully fenced perimeter, pet parents can relax and enjoy the serene surroundings while their furry friends frolic freely. Just a short drive from downtown, Magnolia Manor Off-Leash Area is a hidden gem for locals seeking a quiet escape from the city hustle.
9. Northacres Park Off-Leash Dog Park
Situated in the Northgate neighborhood, Northacres Park Off-Leash Area offers a spacious and scenic setting for off-leash adventures. Spanning over two acres, this off-leash area features grassy fields and wooded trails, providing plenty of room for dogs to run and explore. While there isn’t direct water access, the park provides water fountains for thirsty pups. With its fully fenced enclosure, pet parents can relax and enjoy the beautiful surroundings while their furry companions play. Just a short drive from downtown, Northacres Park Off-Leash Area is a favorite destination for locals and visitors alike seeking a nature-filled escape with their canine companions.
10. Luther Burbank Dog Park
Luther Burbank Park on Mercer Island offers a scenic dog park experience. There are two fenced-in areas for large and small dogs. The park boasts beautiful lakefront access with a beach for swimming, perfect for pups who love the water. With its spacious grounds and high ratings from dog owners, Luther Burbank Park is a great option for letting your furry friend loose for some playtime.
Bonus: Edmonds Dog Park
While this off leash area is not in the city of Seattle, it’s one of my personal favorite dog parks to visit. If you are searching for the best Edmonds dog park, you need to visit Edmonds off leash dog beach. This Edmonds dog park is located on a sandy beach with access to the Puget Sound for your dog. There’s a large open space for dogs to run around in, and an expansive beach for them to explore. At this Edmonds dog park you’ll often find people playing fetch in the Puget Sound. Dogs will be sniffing around and exploring. On a lucky day you might even see some orcas in the Sound! This Edmonds dog park is about a 30 minute drive from Seattle, but it is well worth the trip.
